Disability Justice
Disability Justice
Disability Justice is a movement and framework created by disabled activists of color. It goes beyond the idea of “inclusion” or “access” to focus on collective liberation and the ways ableism connects with racism, sexism, classism, and other systems of oppression.
It values the leadership of those most affected, emphasizes interdependence (people supporting each other), and recognizes that all bodies and minds are valuable as they are. In research, Disability Justice means listening to disabled people’s knowledge and designing processes that honor their time, safety, and expertise.
